MMS Gateway
Mobile Interactive Technology’s (MIT) high capacity Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Gateway receives and delivers cross network rich media messages. MMS allows users to send and receive messages, similar to SMS, which contain content such as photos, video, audio and text. MIT has direct connections into all UK Mobile Network Operators (MNO’s) allowing the exchange of messages between the MMS Gateway and the MNO’s multimedia messaging service centres (MMSC).
MIT can offer your business compliance and operational support with our in-house team of experts. The MIT Operations team works 24/7 and has Network Operational Centre (NOC) screens available internally and externally which allows us to provide a consistent and reliable service around the clock. The MIT support packages provide your business with the level of support your business and service requires. All of MIT’s business processes follow best practice guidelines and include a high level of audited security.
MIT are actively involved in supporting the mobile industry and are committed to driving innovative and compliant products and services. MIT work closely with industry bodies such as mobile operator forums, AIME, MEF as well as the industry regulators, PhonepayPlus, providing our customers with added support and guidance for their services.
MIT can provide memorable cross network 5 digit operator short codes that enable direct communication between you and your customers. Customers send an MMS into your preferred short code and a free bulk or billable MT message can be returned to the user. MMS short codes are all dedicated.
MIT are one of the few aggregators in the UK able to provide multi functional short codes with SMS, MMS and voice traffic being able to run on a single 5 digit short code.
Inbound MMS services for user generated content (UGC) are becoming increasingly popular. MIT can provide an application to receive and display or forward messages if you do not have your own MMS application.

Bulk MMS
The MMS Gateway can send large volumes of MMS messages to mobile handsets. The data usage required to download content is free of charge to mobile users thus avoiding any excessive charges often associated with mobile websites.
MIT can provide an application to create and send MMS messages if you do not have your own MMS application.

Premium Billed MMS
Premium MMS allows your business to bill your customers for content and services. When you send an MMS in order to charge the consumer you need to send a premium SMS as the operators do not currently provide cross network billed MMS messages.
MIT has a number of different price points ranging from 0p to £10 with very competitive out payments. MIT are one of the few mobile aggregators in the UK to provide cross network MMS connectivity for both inbound and outbound messaging.
One of the key features the gateway offers is dedicated routing and queuing to ensure delivery of your message. The gateway operates a staggered retry policy to avoid undelivered messages due to down time from 3rd party applications, Operator Networks or users being out of contact.
The MMS Gateway is compatible with virtual 11 digit long numbers which enable inbound communication. Virtual numbers start with 07, the same as standard mobile numbers and inbound messages are charged at standard rates for your customers. Virtual numbers have a number of benefits over short codes in that they are cheaper to rent and are also not country specific and therefore operate internationally.
The MMS Gateway provides in depth reporting tools that enable detailed analysis of campaigns. All data can be saved or exported for further analysis and can be combined with other MIT services to provide cross platform reporting for example running a gateway service across SMS, MMS and Voice on one short code.
Examples of reporting capabilities include:
- Breakdown of traffic
- Message data
- Traffic split by MNO
- One monthly financial statement
- Accurate timely reports
