Voice Gateway
MIT’s Voice Gateway solution, MIGVoice, connects the 5 digit dedicated voice short codes to 3rd party content providers across all UK Mobile Network Operators (MNO). The voice short codes allow brands, call centres, and premium content services to provide their customers with price transparency. Most mobile users are charged considerably more for calls to many services, and it is currently impossible for service providers to advertise a clear cost to each mobile user.
MIGVoice allows for the provision of the short codes, and offers configurable routing, as well as detailed near live reporting and alarming.
MIT are actively involved in supporting the mobile industry and are committed to driving innovative and compliant products and services. MIT work closely with Industry bodies such as Mobile Operators forums, AIME, MEF as well as the industry regulators, PhonepayPlus, providing our customers with added support and guidance for their services.
MIT offer tiered levels of support packages depending on your business’s requirements.
The core features of this product are:
Operator voice short codes are memorable 5 digit numbers that are complimentary to existing 090 numbers allowing mobile users to connect with your premium rate voice services such as telephone voting or chat. Mobile users simply call the advertised shortcode number from their mobile phone in the same way as landline users would call a normal telephone number. Unlike with SMS short codes, which can be shared between numerous different services, voice short codes are wholly dedicated to your business.
Businesses and service providers now have the ability to assign voice, SMS and MMS codes to a single five digit number (e.g. 67777) enabling simple communication between you and your customers.
Voice short codes offer businesses the ability to demonstrate clear price transparency for mobile users to call premium services, as calls to traditional 090 premium numbers often vary in price with each operator and consumer tariff. MIT can offer a range of different price points ranging from 5p to £5 which are available as per minute charges or as drop charges. As with SMS short codes users are billed directly to their monthly bill or charges are immediately debited from a Pay as You Go balance.
For premium rate services revenue share business models are available.
MIT have designed MIGVoice to be a flexible routing platform. The gateway allows manual configuration of routing to enable the termination of calls to your business’ Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems.
MIGVoice provides intelligent routing, allowing calls to be passed to different termination platforms dictated by set criteria such as traffic volumes and time of day.
The platform provides near live detailed reporting with the ability to export data for analysis. The voice gateway can also provide your business with alarms and voice prompts alerting you instantly if there are any technical connection issues.
If you do not have your own technology to terminate calls MIT can work with partners to facilitate the termination of voice short codes with a range of applications.

MIT can advise your business on adult verification regulatory practices that may apply to your service. All adult verification should be managed by the terminating application as mobile operators have mixed policies regarding barring adult users at network level.
The MIGVoice platform provides in depth reporting tools that enable detailed analysis of campaigns. All data can be saved or exported for further analysis and can be combined with other MIT services to provide cross platform reporting.
Examples of reporting capabilities include:
- Calls
- Revenue by service
- CLI breakdown
- Traffic split by MNO
- One monthly financial statement
